Autumn Doesn't Have to be the Sickness Season
As we find ourselves nearing the end of August, not only are students heading back to school soon but we are also entering into one of the seasons notorious for sicknesses, Autumn.
The constant runny noses.
The ear infections.
The sore throats.
The fevers.
The coughs of all kinds.
The strep, pneumonia, bronchitis…
Kiddos and adults alike find themselves under the weather.
Some young families can’t seem to get a break. If it’s not one one kiddo that’s sick it's another, or both, or all. Sometimes, the parents “catch” it too.
Some individuals find themselves with a certain illness every single year, almost like clockwork.
Sound familiar?
It’s common.
There’s many factors that play into why.
The “why” isn’t my focus today, however.
Instead, I simply want you to know that common does not mean normal.

Getting one or two colds per year is healthy and normal for adults. Think: colds that don’t completely wipe you out but rather are enough to keep your immune system on its toes and learning. Kiddos may experience more colds but ear infections or other deeper sicknesses should be rare, ideally.
If there were a simple “this for that” herbal protocol I could recommend for you and/or your kiddos, I would. But when there’s a pattern that nudges toward a deeper imbalance, it is best to approach supporting each person for the unique patterns that they have and the unique person that they are.
I would be honored to work one-on-one to support you and/or your family in feeling well through this upcoming fall and winter season. I am always happy to answer any questions you may have in what that might look like.
If now isn't the time for working one-on-one for any reason, coming up in September and October I have several offerings that are all centered around supporting our bodies and immune systems Autumn through Winter. My website has all of the details.
In the meantime, might you slow down just enough to notice the shifting in the season. This is what really early Autumn asks of us - to slowly start to slow down, to savor the harvests, to nourish the body well, and to begin letting go of what no longer serves us. These acts that seem too simple are the foundation and they make all the difference.
Be Well 💜
